Explosion-proof solenoid is a special solenoid for explosion-proof valve. It is used for some explosive environment. There are so many different marks and grades for explosive environment, how much do you know about them? Area partition in hazardous areas (for explosion proof solenoid)
The environment can divide into the explosive gas environment and flammable dust environment according to the existence of the material state. In term of the duration of the presence of hazardous substances, there are three areas for the two environments. For the explosive gas environment, we called the three areas are 0 zone, 1zone, and 2 zone. For the flammable dust environment, we called the three areas are 20 zone, 21zone, and 22 zone.In term of the explosive gas environment, the GB3836.14—2000 standard has clearly stipulated:0 zone: there is a place where the explosive gas environment sustains for a long time. 1 zone: there may be the explosive gas environment of the place during the normal operation.2 zone: it is impossible to appear explosive gas environment if there is also occasionally occur and a short-term existence of the place during the normal operation. Tips: “the normal operation” refers to the all the equipment is working normally, the condition of the device operating within its design parameters.

The explosion proof marks
The explosion proof symbol should have these elements according to the GB 3836 standard:
Explosion proof type + Equipment category + gas group + temperature group.
Example: the NTAR-3000. This explosion proof solenoid’ type is Exd II BT5. We would explain the details for this mark.

- Equipment Category
Generally, the explosion proof grade has two levels. One refers to the electrical equipment can be used in Coal mine environment (Exd I) and another refers to all electrical equipment can be used in all explosive environment other than coal mines (Exd II).
The Exd type solenoid and the Exia solenoid divide into IIA, IIB, and IIC.
- Gas Group
The Propagation capability of explosive gas mixtures indicates the danger level. The explosive ability of the explosive gas mixture is higher, the risk is higher. The explosive capacity of the explosive mixture can be expressed by the maximum test safety gap. Meanwhile, the explosive gas, the liquid stream, the degree of difficulty in igniting the mist, all these elements indicates the danger level. And the danger level uses the minimum ignition current ratio to express.

l Temperature TypeThe ignition temperature of the explosive gas mixture is the extreme temperature of the ignition. The solenoid’s highest surface temperature is divided intoT1—T6. The maximum surface temperature of electrical equipment shall not exceed the allowable value of the corresponding group.

Terminology for the explosion proof solenoid
The ATEX solenoid: solenoid can enclose the explosive mixture in a shell. The shell can withstand the internal explosive mixing of explosive pressure and to prevent solenoid is in contact with the surrounding explosive mixture.The increased security solenoid: there are no electric faults and spark can ignite the explosive mixture during the working time. Meanwhile, it takes measures on the structure to improve the degree of the safety. The intrinsic safety solenoid: Sparks or thermal effects cannot ignite the explosive mixture in the normal operation.
